About this document. This Privacy Policy was drafted from a standard template and grounded directly in AI Match's actual, current data-handling code. It has not been reviewed by an attorney. It should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before AI Match becomes a paid product or scales beyond a small seeded beta. AI Match ("we," "us," "our") is an AI-native mobile dating app operated by Nakama Software. This policy explains what information we collect when you use AI Match, how we use it, how long we keep it, and what choices you have. It reflects AI Match's real, current data flows, not aspirational or planned-future architecture. AI Match is for adults 18 and over only.

What We Collect

Date of birth. Collected once at signup, used only to verify you are 18 or older. Your exact date of birth is never shown to other users. Only your derived age may appear on your profile.
Display name. The name you choose to show on your profile to other members.
AI chat history you choose to import. If you import an export (or paste a transcript) from an AI chat service (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to help build your profile, that text is processed as described in "How Chat Data Is Redacted" below. Only the sanitized, derived persona output (traits, values, communication style, generated bio) is retained, not a permanent copy of your raw chat export.
Profile photos. Photos you upload are screened for inappropriate content (automated content-safety moderation) before they can appear to other users. Photos that fail this screening are rejected and are not shown in the app.
Verification selfie (optional). If you choose to verify your photos, the selfie you submit is compared with your primary profile photo by an automated face-comparison service. Only the verified or not-verified result is kept on your account.
Approximate location. When you enable location, your device's location is used to calculate a coarse distance band (e.g. "1-5 miles") between you and other members. Your device may momentarily provide a more precise coordinate to our servers as part of that calculation, but that precise value is used only to compute the distance band and is discarded immediately afterward. Only the coarse, banded value is ever stored. We never store or display your exact coordinates.
In-app messages. Messages you send are only ever visible between you and a user you have mutually matched with. Messages are not visible to any other user.
Push-notification device tokens. If you enable push notifications, we store a device token (via Apple/Google's push infrastructure) so we can notify you of new matches and messages. This token identifies your device for notification delivery only.

How Chat Data Is Redacted

Before any imported chat text is analyzed, we run it through a redaction step intended to strip personally identifying details (names, contact info, addresses, and similar patterns). Today, this redaction uses pattern-based (regex/keyword) detection running on our own servers. This is the layer that is actually active on your data right now. A cloud-based AI detection layer is a planned future enhancement to strengthen this redaction, but it is not yet active: no third-party cloud PII-detection service currently processes your chat text. We will update this policy before turning on any additional detection layer.

How We Use It

To verify you meet our 18+ eligibility requirement.
To generate your AI-crafted dating profile (bio and values summary) from your own voice.
To rank and present potential matches to you, based on compatibility derived from your persona and values.
To operate core app functionality: matching, icebreaker games, messaging, and push notifications.
To keep the app safe: reviewing reports of abusive behavior and enforcing blocks.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly inside the app, at any time, with no need to contact us (see Delete your account). When you delete your account:

Your profile, persona, generated bio/values, uploaded photos, messages, matches, and push token are permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems.
This is a genuine hard delete, not a soft "hide". Deleted data is not recoverable.
As a backstop, if your underlying account identity is deleted through our authentication provider for any reason, that event also triggers the same complete deletion of your AI Match data.

Your Rights

You can access, edit, or delete your profile information at any time from within the app.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time (see above).

Children's Privacy / Child Safety

AI Match is intended for adults only. You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account, and we reject account creation for anyone who declares a date of birth indicating they are under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

AI Match prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. Users can report concerning content or behavior directly in the app at any time. We are committed to acting on reports of CSAE and to complying with all applicable child-safety laws. If you have a child-safety concern, contact us at report@nakama-software.com.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest for stored data, and we limit access to your data to what is required to operate the app. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but protecting your data is a core design principle of AI Match, not an afterthought.

Changes to This Policy

If we materially change how we collect or use your data, we will update this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
